CROATOAN: Lost Colony of Roanoke

Short Introduction: 
In this game, the year is 1587 and you are a member of the Roanoke "Lost" Colony off the coast of present-day North Carolina. You know you are all going to die, unless you can gather supplies and escape to the mainland on the only boat left. All the other families are acting more suspicious every day…trust is lost; survival of your family is your top priority as there are not enough supplies for you all to survive. HISTORY: Settlers landed on Roanoke Island on July 22, 1587. The expedition leader, John White re-established relations with the neighboring Croatans and tried to re-establish relations with the tribes that another group of settlers had attacked a year previously. The aggrieved tribes refused to meet the new colonists. Shortly thereafter, a colonist named George Howe was killed by natives while searching for crabs alone in Albemarle Sound. Knowing what had happened during Ralph Lane's tenure in the area and fearing for their lives, the colonists persuaded Governor White to return to England to explain the colony's situation and ask for help. There were approximately 115 colonists—the 114 remaining men and women who had made the trans-Atlantic passage and the newborn baby, Virginia Dare—when White returned to England. Because of the continuing war with Spain (Anglo-Spanish War), White was not able to mount another resupply attempt for three more years. He finally gained passage on a privateering expedition that agreed to stop off at Roanoke on the way back from the Caribbean. White landed on August 18, 1590, on his granddaughter's third birthday, but found the settlement deserted. His men could not find any trace of the 90 men, 17 women, and 11 children, nor was there any sign of a struggle or battle. Brief Play Description: 

About the Game: Family Strategy game for 2 to 4 players with a play time of 30 to 60 minutes (Longer if options are added).

Object of the game: Players are trying to gather enough of the last remaining supplies and leave the island before other players claim the supplies and leave the island. The first person to gather 3 supplies and stash them in their fort for transport to the mainland wins.

Playing Board(Chess Sized board with 8 X 8 squares)
4 player pieces
4 barrier markers
20 playing cards - 5 cards to each player (Walk, Run, Right, Left and Barrier)
Dice (preferred to be different colors)
1 Turn indicator
8 Resource markers

I could play this game every weekend I am off


Of course, being part of the development team I am a bit biased. This game has players being involved on each turn, no one is waiting on other players to take full turns in order to participate. It is easy to learn for younger kids, yet has an advanced strategy addition for adults to enjoy.
