Game Information
Short Introduction: 
Fire creates fire. Ice creates ice. The only way for each to truly win is to completely eradicate the other.

Brief Play Description: 

This is a 2 player PC game (or 4 players, as two teams of 2 players). The game plays best with 2 or 4 Xbox 360 controllers, and is built using the XNA Framework.

Each player has an element. One player is Fire, the other player is Ice. Your goal is to eliminate the opponent's element.

Use your Xbox 360 controller's analog stick to move. You can spread your element a limited distance at a time by moving out from a region that already contains it. Use your element to enclose an area to fill it in completely with your element.

Eliminate your opponent's element to win! But beware -- if every trace of your element is destroyed, you lose! Fortunately, a speed-increasing powerup will appear from time to time -- grab them fast, or your opponent will!

This fast-paced game features dynamic music, which changes depending on who is winning (and by how much).

Installation Notes: 

This installer will install the game, downloading the XNA Framework Runtime and .NET Framework if your system needs them.

The game works best with 2 or 4 Xbox 360 controllers connected to your PC, but keyboard controls are supported (but are recommended only when emulating keypresses using a gamepad).

If you already have the game installed and are upgrading to a new version, XNA will complain if you install the new version from a different folder than the old. Either unzip the new version into the same folder you used for the previous version, or uninstall before updating.

Additionally, Version 1.1 changes the program name to VS - Fire and Ice. Please uninstall any older versions before installing 1.1 or higher.

  • Optimized 4-player mode a bit, to run a little faster.

Version 1.1 (February 2nd, 2011)

  • The game now supports keyboard control for all 4 players. Most keyboard hardware, however, cannot handle many concurrent keys being pressed at once. Keyboard controls are mainly supported so that you can use a non-Xbox 360 gamepad, by emulating key presses. Consult your gamepad's manual for details.
  • Added full screen mode (800x600 resolution) - Alt-Enter to toggle back to windowed.
  • Added Controls help to the pre-game screen. The game automatically selects whether to show keyboard or controller help for each player depending if a controller is connected.
  • New sprites for players 3 and 4.
  • New visual effect for filling in an area.
  • Added an aura at the character's feet that shows their "painting" energy remaining.

  • Fixed a crash running out of particles.

Yes I know Im on the team who made this game... so my rating maybe suspect... Anycase it was a bunch of fun to work on it. Hope people enjoy!
