Our platform of choice was LÖVE, an engine/framework for Lua.
Brief Play Description: 

One player controls the USS Uriburu with W/A/S/D for movement and Q/E for strafing. Other players control turret-mounted machine guns with the arrow keys and gamepads. The objective is to shoot at and destroy enemies for as long as the players can stay alive.
