Short Introduction:
Ouroboros is an abstract strategy game for 2-4 players, best with 2 players. Players start with no cubes, gain cubes during gameplay, and the winner is the first person to get back to zero cubes. One games takes roughly 15 minutes. Instead of cubes, players may use materials on-hand like coins, dice, or other bits.
Platform/System:
non-digital (board game, card game, physical game, etc.)
Brief Play Description:

Players must do one of three things on their turn:
1) Place a stone
2) Remove two stones that match a pattern
3) Discard one cube

When players place a stone, they gain one cube, and give 0-4 cubes to the next player depending on placement.

When players remove two stones that match a pattern, they also get to discard several cubes from their supply.

As a third option, a player may simply discard one cube from his or her supply.

We played it!

On the final day of the jam, I started surfing the board game projects, looking for completed ones. Yours was the only one I was actually able to pull together and get a game in before everyone left in exhaustion.

I quite enjoyed it!

There is definitely opportunity for strategy in choosing which pieces to give your opponent, as well as where to place the stones to minimize the opportunity for your opponent to score.

I definitely felt there were enough choices that I was always thinking about something, and in our (single) game, we both thought I was going to pull off an easy victory in the late mid-game, but my opponent was able to gather the pieces to make a smaller trade before I was, and beat me at the end by one piece! Very fun, and I will be playing it again soon! (We are going to play a ton of game jam games at our IGDA monthly meeting this Wednesday. I am pulling together some board games from the ones that were made, and yours will definitely be among them.)

I'll give it a try

I've just read the rules, and like the idea. I'm going to give it a try and give you some feedback.

Why not try my game in return? :)

Has anyone actually played this?

If anyone actually plays this game (besides me and the playtesters), I'd be very curious to hear your feedback!
