Work continues

Our work continues. Programmers are hard at working a physics solution for the game and artist already has a few, ready-to-use templates for the game. All in all, everything looks fantastic.

My own job so far has been fetching audio files through freesound.org to set the mood of the game. I've also given a lot of thought to the game mechanics, mostly the gesture-based mouse controls. As it stands now, it should be possible to create logical mouse controls for the game.

And it begins.

The game is afoot! Our theme is deception and time zone constraints are wire, fire or lyre. Choosing wire, my team is set to create a game about royal deception: you lead on the young prince with a cardboard princess marionette hooked on a wire.

Basic gameplay is clear for now and challenges involve creating the foundation. Our platform is Python so the game should work on multiple operating systems.

The cat's out of the bag!

And we've got our theme and constraints!

I am blogging from Finland, Tampere jamming location. Next up is socializing and pitching ideas. Teams will be created as well.

This is really happening, then. After a good night's sleep, anyway. I'm very much looking forward to the event and especially my location's as well as the whole competition's games. For keeping face, I will hold this minor blog as a personal logbook throughout the weekend, giving brief status reports on what's up.

I wonder if anyone even reads this though?
