North Carolina's Triangle area has hosted a location for every Global Game Jam, as well as an independent jam group that has been going since 2007.

Asheville Game Jam is this weekend, January 28th - January 30th. Orientation is January 28th Friday, 630p at TopFloorStudio (http://www.topfloorstudio.com/directions). This is the 48 Hour Film Festival of game development. Our Game Jam is for all types of games and is OPEN TO EVERYONE including surrounding region. ESPECIALLY, high school/college students/teachers, WE WANT YOU to come make your game!!
This note from GGJ HQ: "the only hard-and-fast deadline is Sunday 3pm local time when you should start uploading"
Both computer based games and non-computer based games are accepted into the GlobalGameJam for the first time in 2011!!!

What to bring:
+Creative Ideas
+Any Gamemaking Tools
+Games that you LOVE {{no not to play them, but moreso to experiment with the dynamics that make them work}}
+Water, snacks, etc..
+Prescription Meds (if needed)
+YOUR COMPUTER!!! TopFloorStudio will NOT be providing computers to work on. So, if you intend to build a computer based game you will need your own machine!

This will be our third year hosting the Global Game Jam at UNC Charlotte. A partnership between UNC Charlotte, the College of Computing and Informatics, Gamers' Alliance, and the Game Design and Development program has allowed us to bring the Global Game Jam to the Charlotte area yet again. Details are still in the works, including web site information.

Also, in order to adhere to policies set by our University as well as to ensure everyone's safety and security, we will not operate as a 48-hour site this year.
