SoCho
Heyo Jammers!
Join us for the second run of SF's Global Game Jam site.
REGISTRATION
To register for the SoCho site, edit your profile and set your location to "SoCho". This'll add you to our mailing list so you get the latest and greatest info about everything game jammy. Then, we'll send you an email to fill out a form and officially reserve your spot.
WHAT TO BRING
Bring your own computers, keyboards, tablets, and any supplies you might need. We'll provide electricity and internet. If you plan on staying the night, we will have 'dark rooms' - but please bring your own pillow and sleeping bag.
WHAT TO EXPECT
At the Global Game Jam, you and your team create a game - digital or nondigital - in 48 hours based on a theme that will be announced at the beginning of the jam.
We strongly encourage participants to come WITHOUT pre-formed teams. Part of the fun of the jam is meeting new awesome talented developers. You'll get a dollop of interdisciplinary excitement AND maybe some new friends. Don't worry - we'll have plenty of ways for you to get into the best possible teams.
FOOD & DRINK
We'll be providing snacks and drinks, but there are PLENTY of options nearby if you want full meals. (My personal choice is Ruchi, a block away, with the best Indian food EVER).

SoCho - [2011 site]
Jane McGonigal and I will be kicking off the first ever SF jam hosted by our company (SoCho!) and the fantastic GAFFTA at their place near 5th & Market. San Francisco is known for its game developers and yet somehow managed not to have a GGJ site for the past two years - so let's rock some socks off!
The $5-10 entry fee is to help offset snacks and drinks and show our appreciation for GAFFTA's awesome space.
Bring your own computers and equipment; we'll provide the wifi and some sustenance!
TO SIGN UP: Create an account on this website, then go to your profile, click "edit" and under "Jam Site" select "SoCho" -- that's it! (You're welcome to tweet us @manojalpa or @avantgame to make sure we know you're coming)

International Academy of Design and Technology - [2011 site]
To gain access to the building you will need to stop at the front desk and ask for a visitor's badge. Tell them that you are with the Global Game Jam.
We will begin at 4pm in room 202. It is upstairs, take the elevators up, turn to the left as you leave the elevator and it will be the first door you see.
We will form a team or teams depending on numbers, and talk about the Jam.
At 5pm we will play the keynote speech and present this years restrictions.
You will then be able to plan and strategize in that room, or move down to Lab 142 which will be open for your use the entire weekend.
We will bring in lunch on saturday (potentially sunday as well) and have bottled water available for free. The vending machines upstairs have additional food and pop. There are also several fast food restaurants nearby.

Art Institute of Portland - [2011 site]
We'll have room for up to 50 jammers at the site, more if you bring your own laptop to work on. Site machines have a full complement of software installed: Maya, Max, Unity, UDK, Flash, etc.
Don't form teams in advance! Feel free to look through the other registered participants, but we're going to make a game of it and form teams a little differently this year. So while it will be good to have an idea of what the other participants are bringing to the table, you almost certainly won't wind up with a team you chose in advance.
Jammers will be encouraged (but not forced) to GO HOME AND SLEEP for at least one 6-8 hour block of time over the weekend. Alternately, bring a sleeping bag and grab cat naps in our Quiet Area.
We're going to do our best to provide some food again this year. If you have any special dietary restrictions, please let Corvus know well in advance.
