Cardboard Carnival

Your rating: None Average: 3.2 (52 votes)

Cardboard Carnival pits the player as two characters, one aggressive, one defensive, against a horde of attacking enemies. Both characters controlled by the player have their own abilities, advantages and disadvantages.

The sentence; “As long as we have each other, we will never run out of problems” is integrated into the gameplay by having two characters that can only survive working together, despite their natural resistance towards each other. The word ‘trapped’ corresponds to this situation as both characters certainly want to be apart from one another, because they are opposites.

Brief Play Description:

The defensive character has the ability to create walls and place them in strategic positions to slow the advance of the enemy units. His counterpart can shoot his opponents with fire-balls. By exploiting both abilities, the player can manage the ever increasing flow of enemies. To make things more challenging, the player will have to defend against three types of enemy units:

- A normal ‘Ninja’ unit, with the ability to damage and climb the walls the player puts up, with advanced speed and agility
- A fire fighter, armed with a fire axe and immune to fire attacks, but slower than the Ninja’s
- A giant hammer wielding Ogre that can take down a wall with one swing.

On top of that, the abilities the player can use cost energy. Energy can only be recharged when both playable characters are in the designated area together for a certain amount of time.

The goal of the game is to hold out as long as possible against the flow of enemies and score as much points as possible in doing so.
