Spirit Shift

Your rating: None Average: 2.8 (6 votes)

With this year's theme of "As long as we have each other, we'll never run out of problems," we decided to take the path of a puzzle-platformer using Flash CS3 and ActionScript 3 as our tool.

You take control of an adventurer who meets an ancient spirit in a cave and utilizes his powers to help you navigate the puzzles ahead. The spirit will follow you, but at your own will, he will possess you to give you the ability to travel through special walls as well as see special platforms that appear. However, if you stay possessed for too long, you will become trapped and never able to retain your own body again.

Although in a prototyped stage, this submission shows the functioning puzzle mechanics as well as the management challenge of how frequently one should be using the spirit's powers.
